Hand Held Showers

A hand held shower is an essential device for people who have trouble standing in a shower. These showers are ideal for showering while you're seated on a bath chair, shower chair or transfer bench. They allow you to move the shower head and position it anywhere you need to wash.

Hand held showers are relatively easy to attach to your existing shower arm. You can also attach one with a diverter valve and use it in conjunction with the existing showerhead for other family members to use. Some models will let you attach them directly to your bathtub faucet instead of having to use an existing shower arm. Other models let you attach them to a wall with suction cups.

Hand held showers allow you to sit down while taking a shower and they come with assorted lengths of flexible hose; which enables you to reach all areas of your body. Hand held showers are available in various colors, styles, designs, shapes, materials and sizes to suit your bathroom tile. They also have various control functions and assorted water spray patterns and capabilities on the nozzle - such as regular, pulsating and massaging modes. You can turn the water flow on and off from the handle on most models.

You have to be careful while using a hand held shower. Test the water pressure and water temperature before turning the shower head towards yourself. A good hand held shower should also turn off the flow of water automatically whenever the unit is dropped on the tub floor. This can help to prevent any drowning accidents and water damage.

Many hand held showers are designed to be both water- and energy-saving devices. Hand held showers are often sold in kits which contain the spray head, hose and a mounting bracket. However, you can also buy the parts individually. If the hand held shower is going to be installed in addition to your existing spray head, you'll also need to purchase an inline diverter. Accessories such as shower holders and extra length hose can also be purchased separately.
