Accessible Home Designs

Question: I plan to build a wheel chair accessible home. Where can I get design plans and elevations for wheelchair accessible bathrooms and showers, etc. ~Hal

Answer: There are various websites on the internet that may be able to help you out. If you type in “wheelchair accessible homes” in any search engine you should get a list of sites to point you in the right direction. If you’re planning on building a new house there are companies that have pre-made accessible home plans for assorted wheelchair accessible houses. You browse through the plans and choose one that fits your needs and budget. However, because everybody’s needs are a little different you may have to make a few small changes to any existing plan. There are also various companies that can make renovations to your present house. Your house can be remodeled and modified to meet your physical capabilities, needs and conditions. Your house can usually become more accessible with a few minor modifications. This option is of course less expensive and quicker than building a new home.
